My Very First Tutorial!

Doodled Note Card & My First Video Tutorial!

I have ventured into video tutorials!  This is my very first unedited version.  Please keep this in mind and be gentle with your comments.  Hope this inspires you.  Click here to view it!
It is getting to be the end of the school year here in TN.  So that means teachers gifts.  I am working on note cards for my son's teacher!  I find it easy to create a large quantity and my handmade cards were a hit over the holidays.  The most common comment is that they don't want to send them because each is so special.  A great comment but keeping this in mind I hope the note cards are a hit!

Let me know what you think.  If you would like to purchase the items to create the note cards please contact me and I will put a kit together for you!

Retired List is here!!!

If you have been eyeing a set or accessory and just weren't sure now is the time to purchase!  The retired list has been published listing those stamps and accessories from Stampin' Up that won't be available for long (June 2nd).

But wait . . .What?!?!  Don't panic, this means its time for the new catalog to come out to.  A little cleansing is always good.

The retired list can be found online.  Better yet come to one of my upcoming classes and you can look through my copy of the current catalog in which I have noted all the retired items with their prices.  I can't guarantee that all items will be available however if you know of a specific set simply go online here or contact me and I can help! Check out my Facebook page for to be updated on upcoming classes/workshops!

I will also be hosting a open house to welcome the new catalog on a Sunday to be announced so check back!

Give me some space please!
Dreaded words usually spoken when dealing with people however when working with paper sometimes it's the best move you can make!

When Making the below card I completed a study of white space, unknowingly!

Originally I had created the main part to look like this:

I played with it on my card and quickly realized something was wrong, it just wasn't working.  It was a great lesson in giving your work a little space around it. So I tried again and it still wasn't enough space.

I finally settled on . . . . . .

This ended up what I went with, just the right amount of space but not enough to make the tree feel like it's floating and nothing grounding it.  In addition I like the element of three which usually is a good rule of thumb when designing anything visual.  The treetop, the swing and then the saying.  If you examine it closer you notice your eye goes in a circle which is why the saying works better at an angle to carry your eye around the front of the card.
The below picture illustrates the differences well.

So the next time you are stamping and planning, play around with the space surrounding your work.  You may just find that you need to give it some space!

Hope this gives you food for thought for your next project!
